These curved barbells (or banana bars) can be worn in lots of different piercings, they are made out of Grade 23 Titanium and internally threaded (which means that the end has a thread which is screwed into the hole in the barbell). Internally threaded jewellery is very popular because it is easy to insert into piercings and less likely to cause any irritation when fitted because the whole bar is smooth. The gems are claw set with steel prongs and they are available in 2, 3 or 4mm with a choice of gem colour - Clear, Pink, Red, Black or Purple. The barbells are available in a choice of 15 Titanium colourways - Highly Polished, Bronze, Brown, Ice Blue, Blue, Yellow, Peach, Pink, Purple, 2 Tone Purple Blue, Gold, Rose Gold, Teal or Green The bar is 1.2mm (16 gauge) and available in 6mm, 8mm or 10mm lengths. Please note that only the bars will be coloured (if selected) the ends are steel so will be silver. |
Measuring Your Piercing - Jewellery Measuring Guide
Wearing the correct size of body jewellery is very important. If you wear a size that is too small it could easily irritate or hurt your piercing. If your jewellery is too big it can easily catch your clothes resulting in a damaged piercing.
The measurements to consider with each piece of jewellery are as follows:
Length / Diameter of the jewellery. (A / B in the diagram above)
The above example pictures show you the measurements that you need to take for a Banana Bar, a Ball Closure Ring (BCR), a Barbell and a Labret. Only measure a piece of jewellery that currently fits you correctly.
An alternative method is to directly measure your piercing between both holes using a ruler, although this can sometimes be difficult on your own.
Thickness / Gauge of the jewellery (C in the diagram)
The most common sizes are as follows:
* Navel, Tongue and Nipple jewellery - 1.6mm (or 14 Gauge)
* Eyebrow - 1.2mm (16 Gauge)
* Nose - 1.0mm (18 Gauge)
* Labret piercings are usualy either 1.2mm (16 Gauge) or 1.6mm (14 Gauge)
These are the the standard thicknesses of body jewellery that we sell, so unless you have an unusual piercing, you do not have to worry about this measurement.
We often get asked what are the sizes of jewellery in my country. In Europe thickness is shown in mm but in other parts of the world people use gauge. The following table should help you convert the sizes.
Thickness Conversion * 1mm = 18 gauge * 1.2mm = 16 gauge * 1.6mm = 14 gauge * 2mm = 12 gauge * 2.4mm = 10 gauge * 3.2mm = 8 gauge * 4mm = 6 gauge * 5mm = 4 gauge * 6mm = 2 gauge * 8mm = 0 gauge |
Length/Diameter Conversion * 6mm = 1/4" * 8mm = 5/16" * 10mm = 3/8" * 11mm = 7/16" * 12mm = 1/2" * 14mm = 9/16" * 16mm = 5/8" * 18mm = 11/16" * 19mm = 3/4" * 21mm 13/16" |
