Nose studs and nose rings are both popular types of body jewellery used to adorn the nose. While they serve the same purpose, they differ in style and attachment: We stock surgical steel, Titanium and Bioflex nose studs / nose rings.
Nose Studs:
Appearance: A nose stud typically features a small decorative top (stud) on a straight post that inserts into the nostril piercing. Studs come in various shapes like balls, gems, or flat discs.
Attachment: The post usually has a flat back or a small L-shaped bend at the end. The flat back sits flush against the inside of the nostril, while the L-bend provides a secure fit and prevents the stud from falling out.
Nose Rings:
Appearance: Nose rings come in various styles, but the most common is a hoop that goes through the nostril piercing. Hoops can be simple or decorated, with open or closed circles. Other styles include septum rings that pierce the septum (the wall between the nostrils).
Attachment: Nose rings typically have a continuous loop or a segment that opens and closes. The segment ring allows for easier insertion and removal.
Choosing Between Studs and Rings:
Personal Preference: Ultimately, the choice depends on your aesthetic preference. Studs offer a subtle and elegant look, while rings can be more flamboyant or edgy.
Piercing Placement: Some piercings might be better suited for one type of jewellery over the other. For example, a flat-back stud might be more comfortable for a new nostril piercing, while a hoop might be preferable for a septum piercing.
Lifestyle: If you lead an active lifestyle, a nose stud with a flat back might be a safer choice to avoid snagging.
